I got a ZTE modem today (3.5G connection) 😀
Yesss.. I congratulate myself for finally getting a high-speed internet connection. Well, truth be told, it wasn’t all roses or let’s say, ‘high speed downloading’ when I plugged it into my laptop at first go. I am running Windows 7 and before plugging in this device itself, i had this faint discomfort that it wouldn’t work straight out of the box. I wasn’t trying to be pessimistic about the deal, but since having faced similar issues before, I had to have Plan A’s and Plan B’s.
On Plugging in the device, It started off with the Autorun feature and went through the default installation procedure with the front end (the dealer’s name and programs) being installed. But the next step, when there is a hardware recognition of the device itself, around 4-5 ZTE related terminologies fail to initiate. You could have guessed the way the excitement died down in me. Suddenly ‘Why did you install Windows7’, ‘ This would have been working like a rocket with XP’ and all those sort of arguments popped in my head. But my love of Windows7 is kinda strong. This so I claim, cuz, Windows7 usually manages to find device drivers by itself. So in this self initiated attempt, it failed. Yes. But there is bound to be a solution if it doesn’t work that way, right?
So with a bit of hunting here and there, i found this website (with great relief), where i could download the hardware drivers to the modem.
Its a quick installation and no hassles involved.
And now, I am blissfully downloading at nearly 300 kBps. 🙂 😀
