5 Awesome Things You have to know in GMAIL

Sometimes you go through those moments where you discovered something by accident, even though its programmed to use that way, you will still go around and want to show it around.

With Gmail, I found these few awesome, quick ways of handling work, past emails, contacts and few others.

1. Drag and Drop Attachments

Simply drag a your file to the space between the address and the content area. You will be immediately shown a (wow) zone where you can drop your file. Awesome isn’t it? Instead of hunting for the file all the way through your tons of subfolders, just drag and drop it directly. Works in both the latest version of Chrome and Firefox.

2. Select Multiple Files on Attachments

Selecting one by one is frustrating. Go Ahead and press CTRL, and by holding it down, click on multiple files you want to attach.

3. “Where is the attached?”

Once I was sending a message to a company, an attachment in fact. I wrote the content, filled in the email address and in the end, I forgot the attachment. Saving me from an embarrassing situation, Google came up and stopped me from sending the message as I hadn’t attached anything even though i mentioned it.

4. Read Documents Online

Thanks to GOOGLE DOCs, everything can be read online. No need to download, waste space (if it isn’t that necessary) and go through your favorite Office program. Every thing can be read online now: PDFs, Presentations, Tables and Word Documents.

5. Search For Your Lost Files With GMAIL ‘Super’ Search Engine

No. Google hasn’t named their search as the ‘Super Search Engine’ and i don’t know if they want to. But to me, GMail’s inbuilt search is plain awesome. Suppose say you recieved a mail from a friend (you know his/her name), and you don’t know when he had sent it. Or you want to find what that girl said in that one chat you had that day some months ago. Or you want to look for a specific attachment that is sooo important, that you know where it is, but you don’t know where it is actually (in the GBs of mails you got). Here are some keywords that i would suggest you try out. 🙂

“  in:inbox from:[name]

in:chat  from:[name] keyword

in:sent mail  has:attachment document keyword

from:[name] has:attachment in:inbox

keyword in:[location]  ”

Just generate the format according to your wanting. It is that flexible.
