Every time i travel, go somewhere or is at a place where I dont have my computer with me, I used to wonder if I could post to my blog using my smartphone, the Nokia E71. So, after a bit of searching i got this Symbian S60 app that does the job of handling your blog easily. WordMobi. Its a freeware and you can download it from WordMobi’s Google Code page .
At first you are supposed to install the Python runtime environment because it is what the program is based upon. After that you should proceed with installing the latest available version. At the time of writing this post, the latest version is 0.9.3. Setting up with WordPress is real easy too. You just have to give your blog location, username and password, and how many (previous) posts and comments you want to see on your phone. On default, the program downloads 10 posts. If you are on a limited connection, this can be the better option.
With WordMobi, you can access your posts, comments, post new articles, categories, tags, insert links/images/video and the likes with simple blog control. So overall, you can keep an eye on your site from anywhere, anytime.
One thing i liked about WM is that it is frequently updated. So that secures the stability of the software. It is capable of quickly publishing articles too. You can post drafts or save it locally on the phone, which is another good thing. On the other hand, I noticed that the “Read More”/Page Splitting option is missing. I hope that it will become available in future updates. Another issue is that you will find the app navigation a bit confusing. At times if you are not careful, you might end up losing the article you just wrote, no backup, nothing.
This post was written on WordMobi. Awesome isn’t it.. only thing that i had write this whole thing twice cuz i messed up the first time.. who doesn’t mess up while learning something new, eh?
Cheerios.
I also use wordmobi from my n82! Its an awesome tools for on the go blogging
