There is never a chance you can miss out on this one. Sit in a train, bus, hotel, office.. anywhere.. someone or the other would be having their phone ring out this piece of music. To me, its legendary so I wanted to find out who made it. And believe me, I was kind of surprised when I came to know Nokia didn’t have the actual people who made it.
Instead, Nokia bought out the rights of a composer’s music more than a 100 years old.
The man behind the ‘Nokia Tune’ is Francisco Tarrega, a Spanish classical guitarist and composer. His ‘Gran Vals’ was from where Nokia stripped the seconds from.
I couldn’t get a full orchestrated version of this neat piece, but I found this beautiful cover on YouTube by blndgtarst which covers the entire song. In the actual song, the tune doesn’t end but Nokia brought one more lower key to finish off
Classic. And according to Wikipedia
The tune is heard worldwide an estimated 1.8 billion times per day, about 20,000 times per second
