List of the Most Scariest Movies EVER!!!

Filed in Movies 7 comments

I have compiled here a list of ‘The Most Scariest Movies Ever’. I went through most of them and tell you the truth, the more you see them… the more reluctant to get out of the house you become (possibly instances that you wont get out of your sheets even). πŸ˜€ . SO Enjoy the list!! And do watch the movies.(Please note that this list wont be in any chronological or ranking based order, its a compilation of the best out there…each and every one will be worth it).

  • THE EXORCISTexorcist2
This movie is sooo messed up that you wont sleep for months. I saw this movie (and Exorcist : The Beginning on the same day) and i fell sick. Possibly because of the sudden scares and moves and scenes that make it that way. The story is based on a young girl who becomes possessed by a demon god and the events that follow, along with the exorcism. This much of a small detail would seem misleading, but i say, get a copy of this and watch it… till you get sick.
  • JAWS (By Steven Speilberg)
I was a young kid when i saw this one. After that, deep waters used to scare the hell outta me. Its about a giant shark that terrorizes any human (or anything) that lands into its plate. Beaches, out waters, deeps, name it, the thing will be there. This has some awesome scenes that is bound to make you jump of your seat and for a while, you wouldn’t want to look at the screen.
  • Mirrors
The start of movie goes like this: A man running is inside a subway and he ends up in the bathroom. As he turns around and watches the path where he came from, all the lights go out one by one. And so he is left with one light source above him in the bathroom. When he looks in the mirror in front of him, he sees his reflection. He starts crying. Suddenly the mirror starts to creak. Then crack. Then breaks, with a fist sized piece of it falling onto the floor. He picks it up and tries to stick it back in the crack, knowing the inevitable is coming and his crying goes to whining. Suddenly he looks in the mirror, he sees that the reflection is still standing… and looking at him.
I am not telling you the rest. πŸ˜€
Imagine yourselves trapped in a world where you know that you are the only survivor, from a deadly virus epidemic. The whole planet is wiped out from the human race. Come day time, the streets are empty and dead, with some wildlife loitering around. Come night, ‘they’ awaken. Survival is a basic necessity… and as the movie’s slogan goes… “YOU ARE THE LAST MAN ON EARTH – But you are not alone”… This is more like action thriller, with a few jolts here and there..
You know the future… you dream it within seconds of the next happening. And one by one… you see your friends dying with some coincidental and awkward and scary circumstances… too much to take at times…
  • 28 Days Later
This is a movie from Danny Boyle. Yes, the same guy who won the Oscar winning “Slumdog Millionaire”. The movie depicts the breakdown of society following the accidental release of a highly contagious virus and focuses upon the struggle of four survivors to cope with life afterwards.
  • 28 Weeks Later. (The Sequel)
  • The Thing
Its kind of an old movie (older than 25 years), but it is claimed to be one of the scariest movies ever. It deals with a research team based in Antarctica and finds that they have company on the island… and “it’s” stalking them.
  • Quatermass and the Pit
Workers on a railroad in London find a metal object. Its a alien artifact. And its haunted. Whoever comes in touch with it will be…
  • The Shining(Directed by Stanley Kubrik)
The film tells the story of a writer who accepts the job of the winter caretaker at a hotel which always gets snowed in during the winter. While his family looks around the hotel during closing day, the psychic hotel chef discovers the psychic abilities of Jack’s son Danny, and Danny’s ability to detect ghostly presences in the hotel. In the chef’s family, this ability is called “shining”. When the hotel becomes snowbound, the writer is driven mad by the ghosts in the hotel, and he tries to murder his wife and son.
  • SAW 1/2/3/4/5
All of them are like screwed up scary and gruesome games that are played upon the characters themselves. But they all got superb endings. This one is a true gruesome/gory ride-along, not even with a minute being wasted on making you jump…or puke.
  • The FOG
Another one of those movies i saw as a kid… and cried to sleep. :S . This one made rainy days really scary and to this day, whenever i see a fog holding up, i wonder what it holds inside. The movie is about a town near the sea that comes to witness some gruesome murders and horrors when a fog lifts into the town during night (usual thing that happens, typical with towns and cities along the sea shore). A quick spreading and forceful fog lifts through, and it holds hideous monsters and ghosts and the like within them. And one more thing. There are two editions of this movie. I saw the 1980 version. A remake was made for 2005. Haven’t seen that yet.

Here is another list of movies that i compiled but i haven’t seen them completely yet. I will continue this post with reviews of the movies as i see them later on… so make sure you stick on here πŸ˜› . I put stars (***) on movies i think will be very recommendable to watch.

  • Cloverfield *
  • Altered States
  • The Mothman Prophecies
  • The Mist – Tag line: Fear changes everything. *
  • Se7en – I saw a bit of this… couldn’t complete it. It stars one of my favorites, Morgan Freeman. Him and Brad Pitt are solving a crime based on 7 sins. *
  • Texas Chainsaw Massacre
  • The Uninvited
  • Joy Ride
  • Open Water *
  • Nightmare on Elm Street. *
  • Salem’s Lot
  • Dawn of the Dead
  • AnarchoPhobia – spiders… i hate them…
  • Rosemary’s Baby *
  • Event Horizon
  • SHUTTER (The Thai Version.. dont choose the English one cuz its less rated…) – Highly recommended

And Full Halloween Blog has a list of the top ten scary movies of 2008.

  • The Strangers
  • Cloverfield
  • Repo! The Genetic Opera
  • Spiral
  • The Ruins
  • [REC]

Doomsday is the stupid-est movie i’ve ever seen.

Where is The Ring? thats what i felt scray.. saw series is really horrifying, not scary.. saw 1 is the best of the lot.

#2 cello85 :

yeah, you have a few movies on there that aren’t scary in the least, but a good list nonetheless.

I agree with that other list [REC] is a hell of a movie.

I have a movie review blog myself, feel free to check it out.

@Milad, @Cello85
Thanks for your comments. Actually the list was based on a broader note of ‘horrifying, gross and ugh*’ movies. The title can be a little misleading with just ‘scary’. Maybe i should correct that.

Good list of movies, but never heard of the movie [REC].

This is my fav five sccarriest movies:

1.Shutter(Thai Version)
2.Ringu(Jap version scared the living s*@t out of me, although the remake was almost as good.)
3.Bhoot(Spookiest movie in Bollywood till date.)
4.Kaun(Something really is creepy about the movie, but I don’t know what.)
5.Exorcism of Emily Rose(The “real story” factor did put some fear in me. I’m still scared of the time 3am).
